چکیده

INTRODUCTION Glenohumeral stability, defined as humeral head translations, is a key point after shoulder arthroplasty. Indeed this parameter is one of the determining factors in the glenoid loosening since linked with the rocking horse effect [1]. In an intact shoulder, translations are controled by all active and passive elements, especially the labrum [2]. In a prosthetic shoulder, translations are influenced by 2 features. The first is the surface congruence (also named conformity or mismatch) defined as the difference of curvature between the prosthetic head and glenoid ; the second is the surface constraints linked with the glenoid prosthetic shape. The objective of this study was also to compare biomechanical results of 2 glenoid components (Ceraver, Roissy, France): (1) a standard design and (2) a design named “labrum design” with a superior part simulating the anatomic labrum.

Initial Fixation of the Trabecular Metal Reverse Shoulder Glenoid Base Plate Implant

Background Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty is an increasingly utilized treatment option for glenohumeral arthritis with massive, irreparable rotator cuff disruption associated with loss of glenohumeral stability and function. Several reverse shoulder implant designs from different manufacturers have been introduced to the market in recent years. Fixation of the glenoid base plate has been s...

Influence of glenohumeral conformity on glenoid stresses after total shoulder arthroplasty.

Glenohumeral conformity has been reported to be one of the most critical implant-related features that may affect the occurrence of glenoid loosening. This study evaluated the mechanical effects of this parameter with a 3-dimensional finite element model of a prosthetic shoulder, which included the scapula, the humerus, and the rotator cuff muscles. Aequalis humeral and glenoid components were ...

Stability of the Glenohumeral Joint with Combined Humeral Head and Glenoid Defects

BACKGROUND Shoulders with recurrent anterior instability often have combined bony defects of the humeral head and glenoid. Previous studies have looked at only isolated humeral head or glenoid defects. PURPOSE/HYPOTHESIS The aim of this study was to define the relationship of combined humeral head and glenoid defects on anterior shoulder instability. Combined bony defects will lead to increas...

The Role of Core Stability Exercises on Internal Rotator Cuff Muscles Strength And Its Motor Function in Amateur Archers

Purpose: Most studies have examined the effect of stretching and strength exercises on the glenohumeral joint (shoulder joint), on the other hand, due to the importance of the relationship between core stability and pectoral girdle, especially in archery athletes, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of six weeks of core stability exercises on the glenohumeral joint internal rota...

The effect of the arthroscopic augmentation of the subscapularis tendon on shoulder instability and range of motion: A biomechanical study.

BACKGROUND Anterior shoulder dislocation is common. The treatment of recurrence with glenoid bone defect is still considered controversial. A new arthroscopic subscapularis augmentation has recently been described that functions to decrease the anterior translation of the humeral head. The purpose of the presented study was to examine the biomechanical effect on glenohumeral joint motion and st...
